Episode Name:
Finding Your Voice in Game Marketing
Episode Description:
For many indie developers, putting themselves out there can be one of the most uncomfortable parts of marketing their game. But what if becoming more comfortable online starts with embracing a little discomfort?
In this episode, we’ll explore how developers can become more comfortable engaging online, build genuine relationships through shared interests and communities, and find their own voice when marketing their games. We’ll also discuss how meaningful connections can create opportunities without making every interaction feel like self-promotion.
Q?Box Round Answers
What advice would you give to someone else that’s just starting out?
Dont be scared! I pivoted from an entirely different industry, with zero knowledge about game development, made a free game to teach myself the entire production pipeline, and I lived to tell the tale. Also, join game jams!
What was your childhood favorite game?
Impossible to pick just one, but I grew up loving Chulip, Dragon Quest, Boktai, and Suikoden!
What game are you playing now?
I just finished 50+ hrs in control resonant, now I’m as I like to call it, “in between games”
New Game

TIPS and ADVICE
We covered quite a bit today. Could you list 3 suggestions or tips you would recommend to indie devs based on our discussion?
- Expanding on game jams, theyre great exercises in creatively challenging yourself under pressure, with or without a team
- Learn a new skill in or outside of your field, it gives you something to talk about and learn from others, and you walk away with a literal new skill
- Get comfortable commenting, reposting, liking other peoples content on socials, with zero intention of making it about yourself
